As a software engineer or UX designer in T4SG, you'll leverage your technical skills to build high-impact products for nonprofits, government agencies, and social enterprises. You'll also be shaping the future of social impact tech at Harvard and be part of a rapidly-growing organization with the central goal of making an impact. If you're a hard worker and want to further your technical abilities, these roles are perfect for you!
The Exploration Track is a T4SG track intended for students with a strong passion for solving social problems through technology and little previous exposure to software engineering or product research/design. Rather than working on a client project, the Exploration Track will work on designing and building a technical product for the Harvard community. If you’re passionate about social impact and eager to learn SWE and product design, the Exploration Track is a great place to do it!
The Ethics track focuses on integrating ethical principles into technology development by increasing awareness about ethical considerations, promoting educational initiatives, and engaging in policy-based advocacy. This track welcomes students from all academic backgrounds, and no technical experience is required to join. If you are passionate about ethical technology and/or if you want to break into responsible tech from a nontraditional background, this is the place for you!
Note that all prospective members will have the option to indicate interest in joining these committees upon submitting their application. Serving on these committees represents an exciting opportunity to help shape and guide T4SG’s internal operations alongside members’ regular role in the organization.
Finance and Partnerships Committee
The focus of the Finance and Partnerships Committee is twofold: firstly, raising funds for T4SG through grants and corporate sponsorships, and secondly, developing relationships with external partners and planning events in conjunction with the Engagement Committee. Serving on the Finance and Partnerships Committee is an excellent opportunity to gain more technical and design experience through funding and partnerships-focussed projects, and committee members will participate in outreach and behind-the-scenes work to establish sponsorships and initiate planning for socials with other Harvard organizations, groups at other Boston campuses, and speaker series with corporations.
Engagement Committee
The goal of the Engagement Committee is to help improve community engagement and community service efforts within T4SG. In the past, Engagement Committee has helped organize events and initiatives such as Sib Fams, Friend Dates, Git Lit (our midpoint party), Final Celebration, and more. Engagement Committee is a fantastic opportunity to take a more active role in contributing to and deciding what kind of community T4SG will become this semester.
